Exhibition theme
“Distance and Diversity” apply to our region and offer many paths for you to explore ideas and make statements through your art quilts. Think history, exploration, geography, flora and fauna, landforms, water, culture and influences, lifestyles, communications, tourism, environmental issues, and more.
You are invited to explore and create an original work portraying your interpretation of the theme. Artwork must meet SAQA’s definition of an art quilt and we encourage you to push the boundaries in your work and be innovative. Our hope is to also encourage entries from members who have not exhibited in a SAQA exhibition before. We want all artists to expand on this theme in ways we can’t yet envisage.
All current SAQA Oceania members and those that list Oceania as their second region are invited to submit their work.
- One entry per SAQA Oceania member.
- Size restriction: 40cm(h) x 60cm(w) -landscape orientation. Variation of up to 1 cm allowed.
- No sharp embellishments are to be used and all artworks must be suitable for rolling for travel purposes.
- 3D and free-standing work will not be considered.
The exhibition will open at the Great New Zealand Quilt Show, May 14th – 16th 2021, at the Energy Event Centre, in Rotorua, NZ. Additional venues in Australia and NZ will be announced as they are secured.
