Having lived in Trinidad for 9 years, I learned how Carnival is the glue that binds the country together for many months each year leading up to the days of playing "mas". The joie de vivre displayed is contagious and empowering. This is a typical carnival player as she moves through the streets to music that can be heard for miles. It is quite an experience to be part of, an experience I have never forgotten.
