For Sweet Baby D
34 in(102 cm x 86 cm)
Anticipating the birth of my first grandchild, I elected to make a "three-generation quilt." The baby (boy or girl?) was the inspiration, and I was the maker, of course. The unwitting "designer" was my daughter (the expectant mother), whose figurative drawings from childhood provided the motifs. There they were in my 25-year stash of papers: girls in colorful dresses with free-flowing hair, and lively boys with big ears, hands or shoes. Now was the time to make use of their childlike sense of fun!
Commercial cottons. Assorted threads
Piecing, fusing, machine applique, machine quilting and decorative stitching
