Looking through the ocular of a microscope onto a film of liquid soap submerges you in a universe of bright colors. Circular shapes are highlighted by a print in the center. The quilting makes them even more unique and gives a 3D-effect which would not be possible under a microscope. The black and white fabric underlines
the liquid state of the soap, pushing the color bubbles around yet also holding them together. I chose soap as my subject because of its brightness, but also because soap has been very important during the COVID pandemic. I wanted to create something joyful in these difficult times. Microsoap was inspired by a photo taken by Gerd Guenther (permission granted), depicting liquid soap magnified 150 times.
