This piece was inspired by cave art architecture in India. The imagery of floor plans of rock-cut architecture fascinate me with their irregularity, layers, hidden secrets, meandering paths, and organic qualities. Rock-cut or cave art architectural works are structures or buildings created by excavating rock where it naturally occurred. Because the carving was arduous and created before power tools and other equipment, there are few truly regular lines and sizes. I would love to be aloft these caves and be able to actually see these floor plans from above as they are depicted in this piece.
