The more I worked with dye, the more painterly I got with its use. During the early 2000's I experimented with a lot of abstractions. The two figures are articulated all in free motion quilting (yes, I sew on a Pfaff.) The figures of Venus de Willendorf and Venus de Milo were outlined in fabric washout pencil before I began quilting. This quilt is part of a series contrasting two archetypal women: earth mother vs. the classical refined figure.
