As an emerging fiber artist, retired from Geographer and Physical Scientist positions with the National Park Service, I create Fiber Arts using paper, yarn, and cloth. I learned sewing at a young age then transition to traditional quilting by creating baby and graduation quilts. I challenged myself to explore and learn design and color principles while adding texture using surface design and embellishments. I grew up in Minnesota and lived in the Denver area for 30 years. I now live in western Colorado and my art is inspired by the beauty of my surroundings. In 2019, I enjoyed being the only fiber artist featured in an Artist in Residency program in Medora North Dakota. I created my "Tiny Houses" series prior to this residency and explored another series "Tiny Landscapes" during this residency. I enjoy creating Stitch meditations and using heavier fibers to add texture, color, depth, and fullness to my designs. I look forward to meeting more fiber artists in Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming by serving as a SAQA regional representative.
