The objective of the class is to create an image or idea from your mind.     Using the simple pattern I created, you will first create a new piece of fabric, using as many fabrics in the project as you like. From your new fabric, you will create your own personal “wearable art” piece.

This class will take you beyond the original surface design class and deal with     fabric manipulation and three-dimensional embellishment.

This class is designed as a follow-up for the 2-day class, “Fabric in the Minds Eye”. It allows the students to spend an extra day in the construction of their design. It isn’t required, but I have found in teaching the 2-day class that many people would like to have the extra design time and then a day to just put the garment together.

This class is designed to take you through the process of designing and drafting original garments. We will work with the sizing chart and design layout from my book. Copies of these will be provided.

Using the principles of the 2-day Fabric in the Minds Eye Class, this is a lighthearted approach to surface design, where you create your own fabric and turn it into a vest. I created this vest for summer wear, hence “dog days” in the name.

This is my new “surface design” class. I will teach you how to look at design possibilities using,  your own “Antique” and/or “Orphan” blocks as well as other items in new and unique ways to create original designs. We will look at the pieces you own as fabric instead of already created pieces.

1 day class (6 hours) 1-20 students is $ 400 per day

Going back to my roots in quilting this class will teach you how original Hawaiian patterns are created. You will then create our own design, cut it out, baste it and begin appliquéing using the needle turn method. We will also cover echo quilting
