Easy Free Form Landscapes Focus on Embellishments Reverse Fabric Dyeing Needle in a Haystack Vest Fabric Painting
Descriptions:
Easy Free Form Landscapes Using Karen Eckmeier's pattern as a guideline, Paula will help you create a one of a kind embellished seascape. These
miniatures are quick and easy to make. No templates, no fuss - just
free form rotary cutting and topstitched edges. They rely on layers of
colors and lines to capture the feelings of a favorite scene. Finished
size is approximately 8" W x 12" L (not including borders). Landscapes
can be matted and framed, or finished as a miniature quilt by adding
borders and quilting. Beading and embellishment techniques will be
taught and applied in the class and will add texture and uniqueness to
your personal seascape.
Focus on Embellishments In
this class we will make a purse, but we will focus on those exciting
embellishment materials and techniques, you've seen so much of these
day, but weren't quite sure how to use. We'll do some bobbin work, and
talk about the appropriate needles. You'll learn how to deal with a
variety of metallic, rayon, sliver and those terrible twisty threads.
Reverse Fabric Dyeing This
technique is frequently called discharging. It involves using chemicals
to remove the color on fabric leaving a lighter, and sometimes totally
different, color where the chemical was applied. The results are
unpredictable, but very unique! Learn this quick and almost mess-free way to add new life and dimension to your fabrics. Using
common house hold product we will stamp and paint on you 100% cotton
fabrics to remove existing dyes and reveal the colors below the surface.
Needle in a Haystack Vest No skill required for this fun and easy vest!!!! Have
you ever just cringed as you tossed your beautiful fabric scraps into
the trash?? Ever wished you could find a good use for them? Well, the
answer is here - the Haystack vest!!! This simple, easy vest can be
constructed using just your scraps: you won't really even need to buy
any fabric (but we won't tell if you do!). If you've ever been
intimidated by those wonderful water color vests, here's your chance to
achieve the look without the need for accuracy. Your scraps combined
with Paula's surface embellishment techniques will give you a
wonderfully unique vest.
Fabric Painting Explore
sun printing, salt techniques, dry brushing, and wet painting; all used
to create wonder impressionistic fabrics. Using Seta fabric paints we
will create one of a kind patterns, landscapes, sunsets and leaf
pressing designs. We'll even have a treasure hunt to find some great
natural objects and plants for sun printing. Learn how to apply these
techniques to create wonderfully unique borders and backgrounds.
Release the artist in YOU!!! We will paint 6-8 inch strips of fabric
(width of fabric). These are great for borders or strips within a
quilt. They are also good to cut up into 6 or 8 inch squares. Seta Color paint and protective plastic, and gloves will be provided, in the class kit.
