SAQA Juried Artist Member Carole Harris has been profiled by Dennis A. Nawrocki in Essay’d, a writing project which publishes short essays about Detroit artists on a monthly basis.

Excerpt: Think, for example, of Frank Stella or any of a number of aesthetic shape shifters of the 1960s who introduced such innovative pictorial formats as the shaped canvas. Likewise, Harris’s artful, asymmetrically contoured quilts often subvert the hidebound designs and prevailing expectations that linger in the firmament of quilts and quilting.
