The good news is that we are converting the conference (including the Spotlight Auction) to a virtual event that will take place Thursday, March 19 to Saturday, March 21.  With this new format, we are able to extend registration to all SAQA members, no matter your location!

what is included

Most of the great speakers, panels, and break-out sessions will be included in the virtual conference — plus, we’ll be adding some bonus presentations that you’re going to love. We’re also coming up with some innovative ideas to maximize the experience of connecting online.

The virtual conference will start 7pm EDT on Thursday and then continue Friday and Saturday from 11am - 7pm each day. Don't worry - breaks and lunch are still scheduled but you will have to provide your own snacks!

The good news is that we are converting the conference to a virtual event which will take place Thursday, March 19 to Saturday, March 21. With this new format, we are able to extend registration to all SAQA members, no matter your location.

Everyone has been very understanding and supportive about the cancellation, but as of right now the Toronto Hilton is asking SAQA to pay a substantial cancellation penalty. YOU can help!

If you weren't scheduled to attend the conference, you can now participate. Register for the Virtual Conference (just $200) and help SAQA raise the funds needed to offset our losses.

Those who were already registered for the conference in Toronto will receive an email on Friday 03/13. It will include specifics about your refund amount along with the following options:

All the presentations and webinars will be recorded so you can watch them anytime between the conference and June 30. Even if you don’t log on during the live schedule or don’t watch everything during the conference period, you’ll have plenty of content to enjoy at your leisure. We’ll be using the Zoom video system and we’re confident it will be easy for everyone to log on and enjoy.

Most of the presentations will be easily accessible from a laptop, desktop, tablet, or cell phone with good internet access. Video meeting rooms for meet-and-greet and other small group activities will be best accessed from a laptop or desktop with a built in camera and microphone.

March 10, 2020

First of all, we want to thank everyone for your understanding and patience. So many of you have contacted us to let us know that you support the difficult decision our board has made to convert our Toronto conference to a virtual event.

We made this decision to safeguard the health and well-being of our members. We hope that you have been able to change your travel plans without too many difficulties.

Here’s what you need to know:

Almost all the great speakers, panels, and break-out sessions that were planned will be included in the virtual conference — plus, we’re adding some exciting bonus content that you’re going to love. We’re also coming up with some innovative ideas to maximize your experience of connecting online.

We’ll have the full schedule, details, and links for you by the end of this week.

We’ll be using the Zoom video platform and we’re confident it will be easy for everyone to log on and enjoy. Most of the presentations will be easily accessible from a laptop, desktop, tablet, or cell phone with good internet access.

Video meeting rooms for meet-and-greet and other small group activities are planned as well. Plus we are excited that we will be able to host our Spotlight Auction online which will allow anyone to bid on these beautiful pieces.

All the presentations and webinars will be recorded so registered attendees can watch them at their convenience any time between the conference and June 30. Even if you don’t log on during the live schedule or don’t watch everything during the conference period, you’ll have plenty of content to enjoy at your leisure.

We are still working with the hotel and other vendors but we will have more details about refunds later this week. If you haven't already, do make sure you cancel your hotel room at the Hilton. SAQA staff cannot do this for you and you WILL be charged if you don't cancel by March 14.

March 8, 2020

We have received so many wonderful messages via email and on Facebook about this difficult decision - thank you for your support!  We appreciate your patience as we work through the details about alternative plans and refunds.

SAQA board members, staff, and our conference committee will be meeting on Monday evening to work out a new schedule that will still provide our members with great content and a chance to interact with other SAQA members. We hope to have more information by the end of Tuesday.

March 7, 2020

Due to increasing concerns about the coronavirus, the SAQA Board has decided that we should not risk asking everyone to travel to Toronto. This decision was made after reviewing the recommendations of various government entities in addition to receiving many emails from our members.

Instead, we’ll create a new way to have fun – virtually!

You’ve already planned to be away for March 19 - 22.  Now you can attend SAQA’s Conference in the comfort of your own home without the worry and hassle of travel.  All you have to do is plan for some great food and your favorite beverages.

We will still be able to bring you all the great content that you signed up for – it will just be via Zoom.  We’re working with our presenters to convert their presentations for a virtual format and will be offering some new and exciting presentations to take the place of the outings in Toronto.

The Spotlight Auction will move online, and the entire membership can participate!

We’re working with the hotel, buses, and venues to cancel without penalty.  We hope to be able to refund a significant portion of your conference fees.

Please be patient while we figure out the details with our conference planning committee and staff members.

More information will be announced shortly.
