I have been involved with textiles all my life, and turned to art quilting when I decided to give up my academic career to pursue a life with art. I dye my own fabrics, which I also sell to an interested public through a fabric-club. I love the piecing process, and enjoy adding hand-stitched elements to the design of my modern and abstract quilts. My inspiration is multi-fold – for a while I was using my son’s children’s drawings, then I studied the Bauhaus School and took a lot of inspiration from the geometric shapes which figure prominently in the Bauhaus philosophy. More recently, texts have also featured in my work, thus my linguistic background is finding its way into my artwork.
