Be part of SAQA’s most-anticipated fund-raising event! Donate a 12 x 12-inch art quilt to our 2018 Benefit Auction to support our exhibition and outreach programs.

Auction Quilt Requirements  

 

DEADLINES 

Early Bird Deadline: April 1, 2018

Pieces (with images) submitted by this deadline have a much better chance of being included in our promotional efforts and marketing materials - and be seen by potential collectors!

Final Deadline: June 1, 2018

This is a receive by deadline so plan ahead, especially if you are shipping internationally! Note that we do get a large number of pieces at this time so processing / photography will be delayed due to volume. Your patience is appreciated.  

Are you attending the 2018 SAQA Conference in San Antonio?
We would be happy to accept your piece at the SAQA Conference. There will be a designated person at the registration table when you check-in and at other scheduled times. Please do not give your piece to staff or volunteer without completing the neccessary check-in form.

 

When you complete your submission form, you have the option to include a digital image (jpg format) of your quilt. This image should be good quality: evenly lit, in focus, no smaller than the preferred size of 1200 x 1200 pixels.

Please take the picture on a contrasting color to your edges (pure white works best but use black or dark grey for lighter pieces). A large piece of posterboard makes the perfect background (unlike wood floors, carpet and tables). This will ensure your image looks its best when displayed on the website.

While a photo is not required, we do strongly encourage that you include one if possible even if taken with a phone. Not only does this reduce the number of pieces that need to be sent out for photography (which delays the process), but it improves your chance to have your piece added to the website earlier.

NOTE: Quilts will not be posted to the website until a good quality image is available AND the piece is received by our shipping department.

 

SHIPPING

Once you complete the online submission form, you will receive a confirmation email. Print this email out and include it with your shipment. If you didn't receive an email (check your Spam folders), contact website@saqa.com to ensure that your form went through.

Please use tissue paper or bubble wrap to protect your work in shipping and use an appropriately sized box or padded envelope. Do NOT fold your quilt to make it fit.

Packing should not include scented garbage bags, peanuts, confetti, shredded paper, scented plastic or padded envelopes filled with linty fuzz - all these things make a mess when opening the package. And the confetti and fuzzy stuff sticks to the quilts. Finally, please resist the urge to wrap up the entire package with lots of tape (a special request from our shipping personnel). Thank you!

Mail your donation with a tracking number whenever possible. If needed, our shipping phone number is 216-333-9146. 

If you are in the US, the fastest (generally only 2-3 days) and cheapest way to send your donation is by USPS Priority Mail.

If you live outside of the US, send your piece early enough to arrive by the deadline, including time to clear Customs. Be advised that it can take up to 3 weeks for boxes to clear customs.
