Workshops:
Exploring the Surface: An Integrated Approach 2-3 days
This workshop will focus on simple but seemingly complex techniques--painting, free-motion machine embroidery, layering, and applique, and show you how to integrate these techniques with pieced work to create quilts and clothing which can be interesting and powerful.
Embroidered Collage: Making Dense Surfaces 2-4 days
Learn satin-stitch free motion machine embroidery and how it can be useful in your quilts. We will learn how to collage images and over-embroider them. Emphasis will be placed on thread usage, design composition, and finishing techniques.
Beyond Crazy: Contemporary Crazy Quilt Technique as Background 2-3 days
A crash course in contemporary crazy quilt technique and how to use this technique to achieve landscape and color-wash effects.
This workshop is excellent when taken in conjunction with Exploring the Surface workshop.
Fabulous Finishes: Getting Your Quilt Ready for Exhibition 1 day
This is a technical class teaching strategies for binding, finishing, hemming, making sleeves, and presenting your work for exhibition. We will be making samples of different finishes and actually finishing a quilt the student brings.
