Archeology Fragments 7 Detail - Kevan Lunney

Detail #7

In 1896, 50,000 papyrus documents were discovered buried in mounds in Oxyrhynchus, Egypt; 1000 years of daily records, inventories, literature and even jokes. They are now at Oxford University.

Archeology, copied from the New York Times, is inspired by the idea that our own documents may someday be uncovered. Although the artifact is not decipherable, the aged gold patina optimistically infers value and wisdom. Imagine living in 4010, and upon viewing it, contemplating messages from the past. What meaning would you glean?
