The Fiber Artist Fellowship seeks to provide early-career fiber artists the opportunityto learn new techniques and skills while engaging with a vibrant community of artists from all over the world. Each fellow is awarded two weeks of workshopsand/or studio time, housing, and meals(lunch and dinner)during Quilting by the Lake(July 19-31,2020)in Syracuse, NY.While many of the workshops focus on quilting and surface design,fiber artists of all media are welcome to apply.
Quilting by the Lake (QBL) is an internationally recognized event attracting over 200 participants from around the country and overseas. From the beginning, QBL recruited some of themost innovative and legendary artiststo teach,and that tradition continues today. Classes are offered in design, techniques,and surface design.In addition to classes, the sessionsincludeartist lectures, a quilt show, and many other activities.
Workshops/Studio SpaceFellows are provided with a large private studio space with ample light.Quilting by the Lake has two week long sessions that offers 2-day, 3-day, and 5-day workshops.
Fellows are welcome to combine workshops and independent study to suit their artistic needs.This year, there are 14signature workshops with faculty: Joe Cunningham, Rosalie Dace, Jeanette DeNicolis Meyer, Valerie Goodwin, Kerr Grabowski, Paula Kovarik, Denise Labadie, Leisa Rich, Jane Sassaman, Wonju Seo, and Carol Soderlund.
