International Deadline: Bi-Annual Recurring March 1, October 1 – The Ucross Foundation’ Residency Program is currently accepting applications for residencies of 2-6 weeks. Located on a 20,000 acre working cattle ranch in the foothills of Wyoming’s Bighorn Mountains, the Foundation provides individual workspace, living accommodations, uninterrupted time and the experience of the historic High Plains landscape to selected writers, artists, and composers working in all disciplines.
Founded in 1981 by Raymond Plank, the Ucross Foundation provides a rare gift in today’s world – uninterrupted time – along with work space and living accommodations, to competitively selected visual artists, writers, and composers. Nearly 1,300 individuals have spent time at Ucross since we first opened our doors. They have come from every state in the U.S. as well as from many countries including Germany, France, Scotland, England, Poland, Egypt, the Netherlands, Canada, Thailand and others. Ucross extends invitations to approximately 80 individuals each year, selected by an outside panel of professionals. Residents are also invited through national partnerships with the Sundance Institute, the PEN/Hemingway Award, the Herb Alpert Award in the Arts, and the University of Wyoming.
There is no charge for room, board, or studio space.
Individuals from all stages of their professional careers are invited to apply. At any one time there are typically 10 individuals in residence.
Facilities include 4 visual art studios, one with an Elephant etching press, 4 writers studios, 2 composer’s studios, each with an electronic keyboard and baby grand piano. There is also a large Loft Space suitable for dance and theater collaborations.
October 1 for residencies within the Spring Session (late February to early June) and March 1 for residencies within the Fall Session (August to early December).
$40 Application Fee. There is no fee for a residency.
