THEME: A juried exhibition of 3D fiber-based work (or work referencing fiber), either wall-hung (relief) or self-standing.
ELIGIBILITY: Open to New England artists. Submitted work must not have been shown previously at the Arts League of Lowell Gallery. Student work done under direct supervision is not eligible.
ALL member artists, with work in this show, are required to gallery sit. Non-member artists are encouraged togallery sit with a member partner.
ENTRY FEE: Members - $30.00/ Nonmembers $45.00
JUROR: Karen Hampton is an internationally recognized conceptual artist, addressing issues of colorism and kinship within the African American community. Hampton’s art practice is the synthesis of memory, history, time and cloth. She resides in Lynn, MA and maintains a studio in Lowell, MA. Hampton is an Assistant Professor in 3D Fine Art, Fiber at Massachusetts College of Art and Design, Boston, MA. Hampton’s artwork is held in the collection of the Ruthand Elmer Wellin Museum, Hamilton College, Clinton, NY and the Honolulu Museum of Art, Honolulu, HI and she received the coveted Eureka Prize from the Fleishhacker Foundation in 2008.
