Still Life in Indigo is a series of thread paintings based on the use of Japanese boro fabrics and small objects that contain a wabi-sabi spirit. They are explorations of texture, color and form. Using still objects as a subject for art is something that spans centuries. My on-going interest in the Japanese concept of Wabi-Sabi, finding beauty in things that are imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete is at the core of all of my art work. This series allows me to explore how these vintage fabrics and objects interact with one another and create an image that draws you in.
