SAQA's Auction Raises Funds for Education Programs and Outreach

September 12, 2007 - Studio Art Quilt Associates, Inc. (SAQA) held their first online auction called "One-Foot Squares." SAQA members created and donated 139 pieces of art (12" by 12") to raise funds for supporting SAQA's expanding marketing, outreach and education programs. The auctioned raised $27,750 and exceeded all expectations according to Martha Sielman, Executive Director. With the incredible success of the auction another one is planned for November 2008, just in time for holiday gift-giving. The deadline to donate a "One-Foot Squares" quilt is August 15, 2008. Donated quilts should be sent to SAQA, P.O. Box 572, Storrs, CT 06268.

SAQA is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to promote the art quilt through education, exhibitions, professional development, and documentation. With an active membership approaching 1,700 established and emerging artists, the artwork created by SAQA members can be found in both national and international exhibitions, galleries, museums and private collections.
